The project

Regenerative Medicine is one of the fastest growing areas of technology in the world.

The N8 group of northern research intensive universities commissioned CBSL to develop a business model for a ‘Regional Technology Centre for Regenerative Medicine’ and to identify how regional academic and clinical expertise could be coordinated and leveraged to the benefit of industry.

CBSL applied a strategic marketing approach to this project. This involved the identification and analysis of regional academic and clinical strengths, the needs of industry and a competitor analysis to establish the strengths of the competing world class Regenerative Medicine Centres.

From this information a business model for the new Centre (Regener8) was developed. CBSL also provided marketing expertise to Regener8, developing branding, organising the launch event and providing subsequent marketing support.

CBSL is now providing ongoing operational management and business development for this multi-million pound Centre.

Our expertise

This project highlights CBSL’s expertise in formulating technology transfer strategies, between academia and industry.

We are able to understand cutting edge science and technology in emerging areas such as stem cells and regenerative medicine. In addition CBSL has expertise in the commercial exploitation of biotechnology.

This knowledge coupled with extensive connectivity, enabled us to engage productively with clinicians, academics and industrialists via workshops and interviews.

CBSL uses its resources to analyse global competitor organisations and assess their capabilities. This enabled us to formulate Regener8’s unique market proposition to allow it to be world competitive.

CBSL’s marketing and business development expertise and links to UK Trade & Investment and the North of England Inward Investment Team is helping Regener8 win contracts from global healthcare companies.

CBSL continues to apply its expertise in technology project management to manage industrial/academic collaborations within Regener8.
